What are the performance requirements for high-quality angular contact ball bearings?
2026-06-25
Angular contact ball bearings have a higher radial load capacity than ordinary ball bearings and can also withstand large axial loads. They are generally not used alone but in pairs to improve the rigidity of the bearing system. However, the performance of angular contact ball bearings depends on the characteristics of various properties. Below, Yunair will introduce the performance requirements of angular contact ball bearings.
1. Fatigue Resistance
Under cyclic loads, angular contact ball bearings are prone to fatigue failure, i.e., cracking and spalling, which is a significant cause of bearing failure. Therefore, to extend the service life of angular contact ball bearings, they must possess high contact fatigue strength.
2. Wear Resistance
During production, angular contact ball bearings experience not only rolling friction but also sliding friction between the rings, rolling elements, and cage, leading to continuous wear of the bearing components. To reduce wear, maintain bearing precision stability, and extend service life, angular contact ball bearings should have excellent wear resistance.
3. Hardness
Hardness is one of the important indicators of angular contact ball bearing quality, indirectly affecting contact fatigue strength, wear resistance, and elastic limit. Bearing steel typically needs a hardness of HRC 61~65 under operating conditions to achieve high contact fatigue strength and wear resistance in angular contact ball bearings. 4. Elastic Limit
To prevent excessive plastic deformation under high contact stress, which could lead to loss of precision or surface cracking in the angular contact ball bearing, it must possess a high elastic limit.
5. Toughness
Many angular contact ball bearings are subjected to impact loads during use; therefore, they must possess good impact toughness and fracture toughness to ensure they are not damaged by impact.
6. Rust Prevention
To prevent angular contact ball bearing parts and finished products from corroding and rusting during processing, storage, and transportation, they must possess good rust prevention properties.
7. Machinability
Angular contact ball bearing parts undergo numerous cold and hot processing steps during production. To meet the requirements of high efficiency and high quality, they must possess good machinability, such as cold and hot forming performance, cutting performance, and hardenability.
